Commision Procedure and Fees

 
An oil, watercolor or pastel painting can become a treasured legacy to pass down to future generations. Toni will work closely with each client to fulfill their expectations for their portrait.

The initial meeting with a client is to discuss the subject of the painting, where it will be displayed, size and any other expectations about the painting. A price estimate, based on the number of people or animals to be included, as well as the complexity of background,will be agreed upon and signed. A 33% deposit of this price is required before any work is done on the painting. After a price is agreed upon, deposit made and a contract is signed, a date for a first sitting will be chosen.

At the first sitting, which will take 2 to 3 hours, the subjects should be prepared to pose, in their selected garments, in the setting chosen for the portrait. The artist will make numerous photographs, a video, and then pencil sketches. When a sitting is impossible, as in the case of a deceased person, the client must provide the artist with as many photographs as possible. With very young children almost all work is done from the photo’s and the video made at this time.

After the first sitting the artist will submit to the client a sketch, a composite drawing or an oil sketch of the portrait for approval. A second sitting is then scheduled. At this sitting the artist will make an oil sketch of the subject, to note light conditions and colors....as well as characteristics of the subject not easily observable in photo’s. After work on the portrait has begun the artist will ask for 2 to 3 more sittings, lasting two to three hours each, in which to complete the painting.

Size of the painting is not a price consideration, it is based on where the picture will be hung.
Add 80% for each additional figure, $400.00 for small pets such as dogs or cats.
Complexity of background will influence final price.
